NFA for case of woman who fatally stabbed man accused of wrongfully confining her: cops

K’tan police say they only have her admission of being in same room with him, no further evidence, but self-defence being considered

KUALA LUMPUR – The case of a woman, who allegedly stabbed a man to death in Kuala Krai last month, has been classified as “no further action” (NFA) by police.

Authorities have also submitted investigation papers to the public prosecutor’s office for their consideration, said Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun today.

“Based on our initial investigation, it is believed that the incident happened when they (the man and woman) were in a room. The woman in question also admitted to this,” he was quoted as saying by news outlets during a press conference in Kota Bharu today.

“However, that is just (the woman’s) admission (and) there is no other evidence. At the same time, our investigation also considered whether the woman acted in self-defence.”

Zaki also said since the man was found at a different location from where he was suspected to have been killed a few days earlier, there are “other possibilities” on what happened.

On April 3, it was reported that the 28-year-old Malay woman, suspected to have been wrongfully confined by the 45-year-old man, was apprehended by police. A vegetable knife was also confiscated.

The man’s body was found in front of a public toilet at Dataran Lemang Manek Urai on April 1 with no traces of blood.

“Police investigations also found that the incident occurred on March 28, where the victim brought (one Malay woman) from Sg Tong, Setiu, to several locations in the Kuala Krai district,” Zaki said in a statement then.

He added that the man was stabbed three times in the stomach using a knife “during sexual intercourse”, with the wounds penetrating his abdomen and injuring his big intestines. – April 8, 2024
