Woman, 3-month-old daughter killed in Myvi crash with tanker

Two adult men, another child also injured in accident near Taman Sri Penawar, Johor

KUALA LUMPUR – A mother and her 3-month old baby died in their Perodua Myvi after an accident with a tanker near Taman Sri Penawar, Johor, yesterday.

The accident on Jalan Tg Balau-Bandar Penawar, which was called in at 1.38pm, also injured two adult males and another child in the Myvi, the Johor Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement.

The woman and the baby girl, who were both in the front passenger seat, were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated using specialised equipment.

They were both confirmed dead on the scene by Health Ministry personnel, and their bodies were handed over to police for further action.

The driver of the lorry tanker, meanwhile, escaped unharmed from the accident.

A team from the Penawar and Sg Rengit fire stations responded to the emergency. – April 13, 2024
