[UPDATED] KLIA shooting suspect Hafizul Harawi arrested in Kota Bharu: IGP

KUALA LUMPUR – After being on the run for more than 24 hours, Hafizul Harawi, the person suspected of opening fire at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 has been arrested at Kota Bharu, Kelantan. 

This was confirmed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain when contacted by Scoop earlier. 

“Yes, I am sure he was arrested in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. 

“A press conference will be held soon,” he said. 

Earlier, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the police had taken statements from 11 witnesses.

This includes victims injured by gunshots and firecrackers, as well as security guards and doctors, to assist in the investigation of the shooting incident. 

He said several more witnesses, including the 38-year-old suspect’s family members and others, will be called in for questioning. 

Hussein was also reported as saying that the incident, which occurred around 1.30am yesterday, resulted in one victim sustaining serious injuries. 

He said the shooter had targeted his wife, Farah Md Isa, also known as Farah Cie. 

However, the bullet missed and hit her bodyguard instead. – April 15, 2024
