IPOH – The autopsy of three out of the 10 victims of the helicopter crash at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut, Perak, yesterday has been completed.

According to sources within RMN, the three are the remains of the female navy crew members who were onboard the ill-fated helicopters.

The post-mortem was conducted at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) forensic department after the remains were brought in late yesterday evening.

It was previously reported that the bodies of eight Muslim victims of the crash are expected to be taken to the 23rd Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment Mosque for funeral prayers. Afterwards, they will be transported to their respective hometowns.

Meanwhile, the body of Sivasutan Thanjappan will be taken to his hometown in Sitiawan, Perak, and Joanna Felicia Rohna will be flown to Kuching, Sarawak.

Navy chief Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Ayob and Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari were seen arriving at the forensic department at about 11am this morning.

Yesterday, two navy helicopters crashed following a mid-air collision over the naval base in Lumut.

All 10 crew members on board both helicopters were killed. – April 24, 2024
