Perikatan’s morale already down in Kuala Kubu Baharu campaign: Fahmi

Unity govt spokesperson says this is proven by opposition chief whip’s warning of filing an election petition if Pang Sock Tao wins

KUALA KUBU BAHARU – Unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil reckons that Perikatan Nasional (PN) has already lost its fighting spirit ahead of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election polling day this Saturday.

The communications minister said this was evidenced by PN chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan who yesterday said the opposition would file an election petition if the DAP-Pakatan Harapan candidate is “destined” to win the polls.

“This implies that PN’s morale and spirit have collapsed. It’s as if they are almost ready to admit defeat,” Fahmi said on TikTok.

Yesterday, Takiyuddin warned that PN will file an election petition to challenge the results if PH wins in the Kuala Kubu Baharu seat.

The PAS secretary-general claimed to have video evidence and notes about the abuse of government machinery in PH’s campaigns for the by-election.

However, unity government candidate Pang Sock Tao earlier dismissed Takiyuddin’s warning and said her campaign is being conducted lawfully.

“We are not threatened by the statement. I am confident that we are complying with existing laws, so I am not disturbed nor do I feel threatened,” she said.

Pang is PN’s main rival. The opposition coalition is fielding local man Khairul Azhari Saut.
