KUALA KUBU BAHARU – Perikatan Nasional (PN) believes that the high turnout of early voters is a positive indicator of the campaigns held during the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

Its candidate, Khairul Azhari Saut, said that based on the information he received, the Semboyan Regiment Division’s fourth infantry had a 100% turnout.

“We received information yesterday that it was 87% for both centres in Semboyan Regiment Division’s fourth infantry and Maktab PDRM, and I received the information that at the camp, the voter turnout was 100%.

“To me, this is a positive sign, especially for PN,” he said when met during his campaign session near Kuala Kubu Baharu township today.

Khairul also said he is confident that voter support for the coalition led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has increased.

“It is proven by a series of campaigns that have reached their 12th day today; I see that support (for PN) has increased, particularly for me as the candidate.

“I know a lot of people in this area. Insya-Allah, the momentum is giving me high confidence until this Friday (the last day of campaigning),” he said.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is seeing a four-cornered fight between Khairul Azhari, DAP’s Pakatan Harapan candidate, Pang Sock Tao, Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), and Nyau Ke Xin (independent).

The seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong, 58, of DAP on March 21 due to cancer. Polling is on May 11. – May 8, 2024
