KUALA LUMPUR – National Unity Ministry secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof has filed a police report against a social media user who alleged his involvement in embezzlement and mismanagement of government funds.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang confirmed the ministry’s awareness of the post and Azman’s subsequent police report.

Responding to inquiries, Dagang urged for police intervention regarding the accusations.

The police report was lodged on the same day the post surfaced on social media, implicating Azman in unethical practices.

“(He) already (informed about the matter). He (Azman) told me himself. He had gone straight to lodge a police report,” he said in a brief reply to Scoop.

Asked if he believed that the posting on X was a false accusation, Dagang said: “Let the police take action”.

It was learned that the police report was lodged on the same day of the posting on Tuesday (May 7).

The post, originating from user @Dr.MaslinSis, accused Azman, formerly with the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDN) – now known as the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry – of orchestrating price markups and personal benefits within the National Unity Ministry.

“Before this, he was at KPDN. People at the KPDN were thankful that he was out (of the ministry). Surely there are reasons why they are like that,” the user said.

The user then claimed that Azman would purposely include vendors for each of the ministry’s programmes, to allow him to mark up the price and earn from it.

“He (Azman) asked the ministry to buy a new car for his use. Tendered a plate number (with the initial AMY, short for his name Azman Mohd Yusof),” the post read, without specifying the ministry.

The user also claimed that Azman loved to sing, and he had asked a composer to compose and record his song, with a payment of RM30,000.

“Now KPDN is performing because he is no longer there. Surely there were reasons for KPDN not performing when he was the secretary-general and became excellent after he was out,” the user claimed.
