Feed her to the crocodiles if Pang fails to perform, Tiong quips

KUALA KUBU BAHARU – The unity government’s candidate in the by-election here will face the wrath of voters if she fails to address the people’s needs, assured Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

Urging voters to give DAP candidate Pang Sock Tao a chance at helming the state seat, Tiong, who is also tourism, arts and culture minister, said the 31-year-old should be given a chance to continue the good work carried out by the seat’s incumbent.

“Please come out and vote on May 11 (to) help the Madani government (by) voting for the Pakatan Harapan candidate,” Tiong said in his speech during his ministry’s event with constituents here today.

“In the previous state election, the DAP candidate won the seat and served the people for nearly a year, so let’s give our candidate another opportunity to continue working for the people.

“If she (Pang) does not serve the people well, it’s okay. We’ll throw her in the river and let the crocodiles eat her,” Tiong added in jest.

Polling day for the Kuala Kubu Baharu seat, one of the three state seats under the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency, is set for this Saturday.

The seat fell vacant following the death of assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong in March due to cancer. She defended the seat for PH-DAP since winning in 2013.

Contenders for the seat include Pang, Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainudin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), and Nyau Ke Xin (independent). – May 9, 2024
