ANKARA – A Corendon Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 flying from Cologne, Germany, to Antalya, Türkiye, was evacuated today after experiencing a flat tyre and damage to its front strut upon landing at Gazipasa Airport, according to the country’s Transport and Infrastructure Ministry, reported Xinhua.

The ministry said in a statement that all 190 people on board the jet airliner were safely evacuated following the emergency, which occurred around 11am local time (4pm).

There were no reported injuries among the passengers, and initial assessments indicate no damage to the runway.

The ministry stated that incoming flights will be diverted to Antalya Airport while the technical team inspects the Corendon aircraft, which will be towed from the runway.

This incident follows yesterday’s event at Istanbul Airport where a cargo plane landed on its fuselage without causing any casualties. – May 9, 2024
