KUALA LUMPUR – Exclusive vehicle registration number plates with the “FFF” prefix are now open for bidding until May 15.

The Road Transport Department (RTD) announced that bidding opened today and can be done through its eBid online platform. It will be open for five days until 10pm on Wednesday.

The results will be announced the following day.

According to him, the decision on the bid will be announced on May 16. Transport Minister Anthony Loke also launched the bid today at RTD’s 78th anniversary celebration at the Road Transport Academy here.

He said the FFF series continues from the “F” series that is unveiled each year during RTD’s anniversary, and he hoped the bids this year would generate at least RM20 million for RTD’s collection.

Previous series have seen the F, FA, FB, FC and FF pre-fixes offered for bidding.

Funds collected from the bid will be used for government initiatives such as free helmet distribution, Socso contributions for taxi drivers, as well as to subsidise licences for B40 motorists.

Bids for the licence plates with the FF pre-fix last year netted RM34.3 million for RTD.

Meanwhile a special bid for the “GOLD” prefix in conjunction with the Federal Territories’ Day Golden Jubilee saw the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim pay a record RM1.5 million for the “GOLD 1” vehicle registration number. – May 11, 2024
