Works at SSP1 WTP will start 9am on June 5 and expected to conclude 7pm same day, with restoration done in stages from 3am June 6

KUALA LUMPUR – Residents and businesses in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor have been told to prepare for scheduled water supply disruptions as Air Selangor gears up for asset maintenance and replacement works at Sg Selangor Phase 1 water treatment plant (SSP1 WTP).

The works, slated to commence at about 9am on June 5, are expected to temporarily halt water distribution in the regions mentioned.

However, relief is anticipated as the maintenance and replacement efforts are projected to conclude by 7pm on the same day, with water gradually being reinstated in stages starting at about 3am on June 6.

Initial recovery estimates suggest a 20% restoration of water supply by 3pm on June 6 with a promising 90% recovery by 3am on June 7.

Full restoration is anticipated by noon on June 7, Air Selangor said in a statement.

It assured affected residents that water tankers would be deployed.

“Air Selangor will be mobilising water tankers to the affected areas by prioritising critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres, and funeral homes or services.

Therefore, Air Selangor would like to advise the affected consumers to keep adequate water supply and use water prudently during this period of scheduled water supply disruption,” it said.

In light of the impending disruptions, consumers are urged to store adequate water and utilise it prudently.

Commercial entities can procure water supply from any of Air Selangor’s customer service counters across all regions.

Additionally, four local water filling stations will be operational for commercial customers at Braemar Estate (Hulu Langat region), Taman Gemilang Dengkil, and Pekan Salak (Sepang region), as well as Taman Banting Baru (Kuala Langat region).

The duration of water supply disruptions and subsequent recovery efforts may vary depending on the location of consumers’ premises and water pressure within the distribution system.

For updates and further information, consumers can turn to alternative official communication channels such as the Air Selangor application, Facebook, Instagram, or call Air Selangor’s Call Centre at 15300. Additionally, details are available on the official website at https://www.airselangor.com/. – May 13, 2024
