Bad move @ZUSCoffee. You gained much attention and sales due to boycott of pro Israelis brand. Now this move could make you easily loose many branches due to economical closure.

Zus Coffee in hot water over ‘one-off activity’ with under-boycott Adidas

Coffee chain company issues apology and says it ‘should have known better’, vowing to be more careful and asserting it ‘unequivocally condemns any acts of violence against humanity’

KUALA LUMPUR – Zus Coffee has come under fire again – this time over an event with German sportswear brand Adidas, which has been on the boycott list for supposedly using an Israeli manufacturer for its underwear range.

However, the Malaysian coffee chain apologised “for the oversight”.

It added that it was not collaborating with Adidas, rather it was a one-off “activity”, where Zus signed up to sell coffee to the public.

“We hear you. We should have known better. The giveaway was also a one-off activity. We wish to make clear that it was not a collaboration.

“Nevertheless, we hear you, and we should have known better.

“As a home-grown Malaysian brand, we hold ourselves to the highest levels of integrity.

“Zus Coffee will never knowingly associate ourselves with war and unequivocally condemns any acts of violence against humanity.

“We will exercise greater vigilance and care in our conduct, in the activities we undertake, and the brands we associate with. To prevent a repeat, we are taking every necessary action to fortify our policies and procedures to ensure best practices.”

Meanwhile, X user @Adhajanissary criticised the coffee brand, saying, “Bad move @ZUSCoffee. You gained much attention and sales due to the boycott of pro-Israeli brands. Now this move could make you easily lose many branches due to economic closure.”

Late last year, Zus had to clarify that its brand name and logo were not related to Zeus, the mythological Greek god. – May 16, 2024
