Suspect shot dead at scene of early-morning assault, pistol and sub-machine gun seized

KUALA LUMPUR – Two police officers were killed and one injured by a masked attacker at the Ulu Tiram police station, Johor Bahru, early this morning.

Johor police chief M. Kumar, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect, brandishing both a pistol and a machete, attacked the police station at 2.24am.

The suspect, however, was reported to have been shot dead at the scene of the incident.

Subsequently, police seized a Walther P99 pistol and an HK MP5 sub-machine gun from the suspect.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain will be sharing details on the attack during a press conference set to be held today in Johor.

“I have arrived in Johor, I’m heading to the location… Ulu Tiram police station,” he said when contacted by Scoop.

It was later confirmed that the two police officers killed in the attack were constables Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, both of whom had only joined the force less than two years ago.

Azza suffered injuries to the head and neck, believed to be from being hacked by a parang, while Syafiq had gunshot wounds on his body.

Meanwhile, Mohd Hasif Roslan, the police corporal who was also shot, is currently being treated at the state capital’s Sultan Ismail Hospital. – May 17, 2024
