KUALA LUMPUR – A foreign man who was caught peeping at his 18-year-old colleague was on April 18 brought to face charges for his alleged offence, said Klang Utara police.

In a statement today, district police chief S. Vijaya Rao said the man was charged under Section 509/511 of the Penal Code for intentionally insulting a person’s modesty through words or gestures.

If found guilty, the man faces an imprisonment term of up to five years, a fine, or both.

The statement, however, did not clarify whether the suspect had pleaded guilty or claimed trial for the offence.

Police had first received a report on the matter from the victim, who is a KK Mart shop assistant in Meru, Klang, on April 2, Vijaya Rao said.

“The suspect was successfully caught by members of the public who had then handed him over to police.”

He also said police had opened an investigation paper under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 on indecent, threatening, abusive, or insulting behaviour. – May 29, 2024
