KUALA LUMPUR – SMK La Salle has issued an urgent appeal for donations, requiring over RM30,000 to repair the school hall roof that was damaged by a recent freak storm.

On social media, the school indicated that the aftermath of the thunderstorm revealed extensive structural damage, including significant cracks in the school hall roof.

The school’s management issued a warning about the danger involved, noting the repairs were critical to ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors.

“With continual evening rain, the risk of ceiling collapse is imminent, making immediate repairs critical,” it said in a flyer.

The school launched a donation drive via Giveback.my, and also provided details on where donors can contribute.

“Your support can make a huge difference in restoring the school hall and allowing La Salle students, who rely on this school hall every day, to continue their education without disruption,” the school said in the campaign page.

“All donations are welcome as there is no greater gift than the gift of education.”

For online banking, the school said donations can go to Pertubuhan Bangkit (Pulift Organisation) via the Maybank Account number 5643 4262 7846 (Swift Code: MBBEMYKL). It advised donors to enter the words SMK La Salle as reference when performing the online transfer. – June 5, 2024
