KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to make a positive announcement tomorrow regarding food items, revealed Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Without divulging any details, Fahmi said the announcement demonstrates how proper teamwork between the government and industries can benefit the people.
“The announcement is related to food items that we eat daily, so there will be good news from the prime minister.
“This shows that when the government and the industry sector have good cooperation and understand that their intention is for the people, we are able to make such announcements,” he said after launching the Mydin Mart in Lembah Pantai today.
During his speech earlier, Fahmi said this followed a recent cabinet meeting, and a decision had been made on the matter.
He added that the government understood the people’s struggles and would always strive to solve them.
“What we are trying to do is not (just) for the present, but to fix weaknesses in the system that have been taken advantage of by inappropriate groups for too long.
“What will be done is not just for us to focus on today, but also for the future.”
Fahmi also said the government’s diesel subsidy rationalisation helped curb smuggling activities.
This followed reports by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, which detailed changes in diesel sales patterns in fuel stations following the rationalisation exercise. – June 15, 2024
