Deadly crash in Melaka: man killed, two women, baby severely injured

Incident involves two cars colliding head-on while traveling in opposite directions on Lebuh AMJ

ALOR GAJAH – A man was killed, while two women, along with a 7-month-old baby girl, were injured in a two-car crash at Lebuh AMJ (Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin)-Rembia here yesterday evening.

Alor Gajah district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said police received information from the public about a collision involving a Perodua Bezza and a Proton Saga at 7.07pm.

“Preliminary investigations found that the Perodua Bezza was heading from Melaka to Alor Gajah while the Proton Saga was heading in the opposite direction when the Perodua Bezza entered the opposite lane and collided with the Proton Saga,” he said in a statement last night.

Factory operator Mohammad Ariffin Abdullah Thani, 33, who was driving the Perodua Bezza, died of severe head injuries while being treated at Alor Gajah Hospital at 9.07pm, he said.

The Proton Saga’s female driver, 30, and her 7-month-old daughter were seriously injured, while another passenger, a woman, 24, sustained injuries in several areas of her body, he said, adding that they were being treated at Melaka Hospital. – June 24, 2024
