No student will have co-curricular scores unrecorded, vows Fadhlina

Education Ministry developing integrated system to collect PAJSK data for private schools, says minister

2:32 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has assured that no student will have their Physical Activity, Sports and Co-Curriculum Assessment (PAJSK) data unrecorded.

She told the Dewan Rakyat today that the ministry was currently developing an integrated data collection system for private schools, similar to the existing system for public schools, to avoid unrecorded PAJSK data.

For public schools, the data collection method had just undergone a transition from the Aplikasi Pangkalan Data Murid system (from 2005) to the newly developed integrated data system, Pengurusan Pentaksiran Bersepadu, for the years 2023-2024.

However, for the time being, the new system does not include private schools.

“For the time being, while we develop the integrated system (for private schools), schools that are not under the ministry (private institutions) would need to fill out and submit the PAJSK scores on a physical form provided by the ministry.

“Even though there was an issue, we have acted on it, and we will ensure that no data will be unrecorded,” she said.

Fadhlina said this in response to Wan Razali Wan Nor’s (Kuantan-PN) question on the ministry’s actions to prevent the recurrence of unrecorded PAJSK data.

This came after recent reports that some SPM holders’ PAJSK scores were not recorded in their UPU applications, causing them to fail to continue their studies at higher education institutions or receive offers that were not their first choice.

Fadhlina stressed that the issue had been solved, and 4,710 students had received offers to higher education institutions, out of which 954 people were offered their first choice and 2,838 were listed under appeal.

“We are improving the integrated system, and we are developing (another system) for private schools, just like what we use for schools under the ministry (public schools), and we will coordinate the data so that the problem will not happen again.

“I guarantee that no student will be left behind (in PAJSK data registration) when enrolling in public higher learning institutions,” she said.

Earlier, Fadhlina said that the PAJSK contributed to a 10% score as a precondition for students to be accepted into public higher learning institutions.

She said the condition was set in line with the national education aspiration to emphasise a holistic education, including academic development and character building. – July 11, 2024
