KUALA LUMPUR – The brother of murdered Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah does not recognise the 26-year-old civil servant who was said to be her boyfriend.

Mohammad Fariza Abdullah told Scoop that his 25-year-old sister never spoke about having a relationship.

“I don’t know this man at all. So far, I have never heard of him from my sister. For now, I am still waiting for information from police (regarding their relationship).”

So far, he is waiting for their mother to arrive from Miri, Sarawak tonight before deciding where to bury his sister.

“If it were up to me, I would bury her in Pahang, but we need to discuss it among ourselves.”

Meanwhile, Nur Farah Kartini’s friends have taken to social media to deny that she had a boyfriend, saying the suspect was merely an acquaintance who pursued her but was rebuffed.

Earlier, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan told journalists that the man implicated in the murder of Nur Farah Kartini was her boyfriend.

He added that the investigations into the man led the authorities to finding her remains but the murder motive was yet to be established.

The 26-year-old local man is placed under police custody for seven days until July 22.

The suspect was also been confirmed to be a policeman, according to Bernama.

Selangor Police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the man is still in service in Perak.

“Yes, he is a policeman at a police station in Perak,” he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris also confirmed that the suspect is a lance corporal attached at the Slim River police station. – July 16, 2024
