KUALA LUMPUR – The Digital Ministry is monitoring local technical disruptions following the Microsoft cloud services outage that hit globally.

Minister Gobind Singh Deo said that they have received reports of disruptions and are taking steps to resolve the issues.

“We are monitoring the situation closely. We have received reports of disruptions that are being fixed.

“All steps are being taken to address the problem and to resolve it soon,” he said in an X post today.

He made this statement in response to a news report about the tech giant’s outage that impacted the check-in system at klia2 today.

Earlier, state infrastructure committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari confirmed to Scoop that three airlines were experiencing operational challenges.

He stated that Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) informed him of slight delays during manual check-in processes, but reassured that the situation was being managed.

This follows Microsoft’s global outage that impacted a wide range of industries, including banks, airlines, telecommunications companies, TV and radio broadcasters, and supermarkets, causing widespread global disruptions. – July 19, 2024
