Penang excos keep mum over Jagdeep’s garden leave

DCM vaguely mentions that he is ‘taking a short break’ to spend time with his children and attend to matters in KL

KUALA LUMPUR – Penang exco members are tight-lipped over the news that Deputy Chief Minister Jagdeep Singh Deo has been placed on garden leave, effective today.

When asked, two excos declined to comment on the reason behind the garden leave.

Jagdeep, who is also Datok Keramat assemblyman, was reported as saying that he is “taking a short break” with his children and that he “has some matters in Kuala Lumpur”.

Scoop has also reached out to Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Meanwhile, a number of DAP leaders told Scoop that they were unaware of the garden leave and only knew about it via news reports.

Earlier, The Star quoting sources reported that an unnamed Penang executive councillor was asked to go on leave to deal with his “personal problems”.

The personal problems, according to the source, seem to have affected his duties. – July 22, 2024
