Construction workers’ container homes razed in early morning fire

No fatalities in blaze that engulfed 56 units at site in Wangsa Maju

KUALA LUMPUR – Fifty-six container units cum residential quarters at a construction site in Wangsa Maju were destroyed by fire this morning.

In a statement today, the Kuala Lumpur Fire And Rescue Department’s operations centre said it received a distress call at 9.08am. 

Subsequently, 21 personnel were dispatched to the scene nearby Villa Wangsamas, Jalan Seri Wangsa 2. 

According to Wangsa Maju fire chief M. Letchumanan, personnel on the ground found that the fire involved 56 containers which were used as housing quarters. 

The spread of the fire, which was 100 x 50 sq ft, was completely extinguished at 12.02pm.

No victims were involved in the incident while the cause of the fire is still under investigation. – July 24, 2024
