KUALA LUMPUR – Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz slammed party members who attack each other and engage in trivial matters.

He said that Umno leaders who prioritise their personal agendas are bankrupt of ideas, adding that the Malay-based party did not need such leaders, as the public is “sick” of endless politicking.

Tengku Zafrul stressed that the public wants Umno leaders who genuinely care about their concerns and have a vision for future generations.

“But, there are still leaders who engage in trivial matters, attacking one another and focusing on personal agendas. These are the actions of those who are bankrupt of ideas,” he said in a Facebook post.

Tengku Zafrul highlighted that this was the main message conveyed in his speech at the inauguration ceremony of the Tanjung Umno division’s delegates meeting in Penang.

The Umno leader, who is also the investment, trade and industry minister, said Umno needs to demonstrate to the public that it has fresh ideas for addressing their welfare, improving the country’s economy, and ensuring the future of their children.

By doing so, the public would restore their trust in the party, he added.

Tengku Zafrul also asserted that Umno members have an obligation to reprimand leaders who don’t wish to change.

“Can we do it? I am confident that we can. Should the leaders refuse to change, the members must reprimand them for the good of our party!” he said. – July 27, 2024
