Israeli strike in Beirut kills three PFLP members, one Jamaa Islamiya official

Attack targeted a house in Sunni-dominant Kola; Palestinian secular left-wing group aligns with Hezbollah in supporting Hamas

KUALA LUMPUR – An Israeli strike in Beirut today has killed three Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) members were killed, the organisation said.

PFLP, a secular left-wing group, has aligned with Hezbollah in supporting Palestinian group Hamas against Israel. 

In a statement, PFLP confirmed that its military security chief Mohammad Abdel-Aal, military commander Imad Odeh, and Abdelrahman Abdel-Aal were killed in the strike on Beirut’s Kola district. 

It was also reported that an official of the Palestinian group Jamaa Islamiya, Mohammad Dahrouj, was also killed.

A Lebanese security source said four people were killed in the strike targetting an apartment belonging to Lebanese Islamist group Jamaa Islamiya members, AFP reported.

Footage showed the partially flattened floor of the building in the predominantly Sunni neighbourhood of Kola.

The Israeli army has also shelled the southern suburbs of Beirut, Hezbollah’s stronghold, on several occasions in recent days.
