[UPDATED] Non-stop downpour: Kelana Jaya LRT line back to normal as of 3.30pm

This follows earlier disruption between Sri Rampai and Wangsa Maju stations due to 'standing waters on the tracks'

KUALA LUMPUR – The Kelana Jaya LRT line’s services between Sri Rampai and Wangsa Maju stations are now back to normal as of 3.30pm after an earlier disruption due to “standing water on the tracks”, following heavy rainfall in Kuala Lumpur since early morning today.

In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the temporary repair works on the track system components have been completed by its engineering team. The operations team has conducted tests on the system and track components to ensure that the service can resume per safety standards.

However, the engineering and operations teams will continue to monitor the system’s stability to ensure smooth train operations.

The company also thanked passengers for their patience during this service disruption.

Earlier, Rapid Rail said that at about 10.20am, an unusual flow of rainwater entered the ground-level track, causing damage to several components.

In a statement, it confirmed that repair works on the damaged track components are actively underway, with the power supply in the affected area turned off to facilitate inspections and repairs. 

Separately, a notice on the MyRapid website informed passengers that trains from Putra Heights would terminate at Sri Rampai, while a shuttle train service has been activated between Taman Melati and Gombak. 

Alternative modes of transportation are no longer being offered as train services resume. – October 15, 2024
