Zahid makes Wee his Chinese investments advisor

Barisan Nasional chairman also affirms commitment to sticking with MCA, MIC for the next general election

3:10 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR — MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has been appointed advisor for Chinese investors and companies under Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s office.

Zahid, who announced this when speaking at MCA’s 71st annual general assembly today, said Wee had helped secure investments in the halal industry during the deputy prime minister’s official visit to China recently.

Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and Umno president, said his party affirmed its relationship with MCA, as well as MIC which are components in the BN coalition.

He said together, BN has the potential to secure more seats in the 16th General Election (GE16) if parties can set aside trivial and petty issues, Bernama quoted him saying.

“If BN puts in the effort and organises an effective election strategy, while also addressing our internal challenges, BN can still achieve a remarkable victory, even in opposition-held states.

“By prioritising the bigger picture over petty disputes and returning to the core values of BN, we can strengthen our coalition.

“If the leaders of the component parties can also set aside their differences, I am confident that BN will secure more seats in the upcoming GE,” Zahid said in his opening speech at MCA’s annual general assembly at Wisma MCA here today.

He issued a reminder to BN component parties to respect differences of opinion and to keep disputes “within the bedroom”.

“Never bring bedroom problems to the front of the house or outside the house. When people pass by and see the problem, the problem will become bigger.” – October 20, 2024
