MCMC to act against Facebook group sharing schoolgirls photos

Commission responds to concerns over inappropriate content shared in a private group with 6,000 members

KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is set to take action against a private Facebook group accused of posting pictures of young schoolgirls in their baju kurung uniforms. 

The commission, in a reply on X to a user named zrnh@ZareenH_s, stated, “MCMC takes note of this matter and is in the process of taking action.” 

Earlier, the user highlighted the issue after they posted a screenshot of the Facebook group on MCMC’s official X account, questioning the existence of the group for the last three years. 

“Please find and punish the admin of this page,” said the user, who also tagged Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and the MCMC. 

The Facebook group has about 6,000 members and was created in 2021. — October 26, 2024
