KUALA LUMPUR – A motorcyclist was killed and a motorist injured after a parked lorry rolled onto Jalan Kerinchi, triggering a fatal accident yesterday.

The 32-year-old lorry driver, who left the vehicle unattended at a construction site to refill its brake fluid, was arrested later that afternoon, Bernama reported.

According to ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The tragedy unfolded when the lorry unexpectedly reversed into the main road, breaking through a safety gate.

The motorcyclist lost control while attempting to avoid the vehicle and was crushed under its rear-right tyre, dying at the scene.

A nearby motorist also sustained injuries during the incident, which was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.

Police are seeking a remand order to further investigate the crash. – November 24, 2024
