KLCC LRT station temporarily closes after utility room goes up in smoke

KUALA LUMPUR – Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd has announced the temporary closure of KLCC Station following the detection of smoke in the station’s electronic equipment room.

Passengers are advised to proceed to Persiaran KLCC Station or Ampang Park Station to continue their journey.

A free shuttle bus service is also being provided between Ampang Park Station, KLCC Station, and Dang Wangi Station.

Firefighters are currently on-site, and passengers are urged to remain calm and follow the instructions of station personnel.

The fire was caused by a fire involving a switchboard panel.

In a separate statement, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 4.15pm, prompting the dispatch of fire engines to the scene. The operation team from the Jalan Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Department, along with FRT-1, consisting of seven personnel, responded to the incident.

According to Operations Commander PBK II Mohamed Azimin Bin Mohamed Zahidi, the fire was extinguished by the KLCC Emergency Response Team (ERT) prior to the arrival of fire department personnel.

The ERT team used Carbon Dioxide (CO2) fire extinguishers to put out the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire Investigation Unit.

No injuries were reported, and the situation is under control. Passengers are advised to proceed to Persiaran KLCC Station or Ampang Park Station to continue their journey.

A free shuttle bus service is also being provided between Ampang Park Station, KLCC Station, and Dang Wangi Station.
