KUALA LUMPUR – The government has decided to end the practice of offering free tolls during festive seasons, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He explained that the decision, which was made during a Cabinet meeting last year, would be replaced with a more targeted approach, Bernama reported.

“According to this decision, there will be no more free tolls, and 2024 will be the last year for the free toll initiative during festive seasons,” he said.

“The government has also realigned subsidies to adopt a more targeted approach for the people of Malaysia, with further details to be announced soon,” he added.

He made these remarks at a press conference after officiating the opening of Section 2 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) in Klang today. – January 21, 2025
