KUALA LUMPUR – Beginning May 1, 2025, all foreign travellers, including Malaysians, must complete Thailand’s online TM6 immigration form as part of new entry requirements.

According to the Bangkok Post recently, the digital form, which was temporarily suspended in April 2024, will replace the traditional paper version.

Natthriya Thaweevong, the permanent secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, confirmed that the digital version of the TM6 is set to roll out after the suspension period ends on April 30.

The online form aims to streamline the arrival process and enhance safety measures by better tracking visitors during their stay. This is part of the country’s broader effort to address safety concerns and improve tourism perceptions.

The ministry has already conducted an internal session to demonstrate the online system, and on January 31, it will meet with stakeholders, including the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, airlines, and tourism agencies, to help raise awareness of the changes.

Mongkon Wimonrat, the deputy permanent secretary of the ministry, assured that the priority is to implement the online TM6 before considering any other pre-arrival measures.

He emphasised that the new system applies to all foreign arrivals, whether by air, land, or sea, and the free online form will be mandatory for all, Bangkok Post reported.

The Thai government is expected to approve the new system in February, allowing related parties to prepare for the transition. However, a source from the ministry, speaking on condition of anonymity, indicated that the introduction of the 300-baht tourism fee may be delayed.

The source explained that the government wants to ensure the TM6 process runs smoothly before introducing additional measures, particularly in light of concerns about illicit networks using Thailand as a transit point to neighbouring countries.

This delay could extend to the introduction of other screening measures, such as an electronic travel authorisation, designed to provide visa-free travellers with pre-arrival approval. – January 26, 2025
