KUALA LUMPUR – Police have launched an investigation into a hit-and-run incident after a sedan and a pickup truck ploughed into two individuals near an entertainment centre along Old Klang Road on Tuesday, with authorities treating the case as attempted murder

Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said authorities received a report from members of the public who witnessed the incident.

“Investigations found that a Toyota Hilux and a Toyota Vios rammed into a group of individuals at the location.

“The incident resulted in injuries to two people, with one of the victims taken to hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.

“So far, those involved have yet to lodge a police report.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. If convicted, offenders can be punished by at least 10 years in jail and a fine upon conviction.

Members of the public with any information on the incident are urged to contact the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222, or the nearest police station.
