SHAH ALAM – National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang has issued a stern warning, urging all parties to immediately cease making or spreading inflammatory statements that could fracture the nation’s peace.

He called on the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take swift and decisive action against individuals responsible for spreading provocative content on social media.

“I want to stress that the actions of certain netizens who spread provocative statements, insults, and mock religious beliefs on social media platforms are completely unacceptable.

He warned that those responsible could face severe consequences under Section 298, Section 504, and Section 505 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

His statement comes in response to a viral TikTok video in which a netizen was seen mocking Islamic teachings. The act, which has since been imitated by others, has ignited religious and racial tensions across Malaysia.

“Irresponsible acts that involve insulting religion and racial sensitivities pose a threat to the peace and harmony of the nation.

“I hereby issue a stern warning to all parties not to repeat such irresponsible actions,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He assured that the National Unity Ministry would intensify efforts to educate the public through the Cakap Baik-Baik (Speak Kindly) campaign, promoting understanding, respect, and acceptance among Malaysians.

“Provocative actions that disregard religious and racial sensitivities are not mere offences—they are an attack on the very fabric of our society. If we do not put an end to this, our unity will be at stake,” he added. – March 6, 2025
