KUALA LUMPUR – The Education Ministry (MOE) will require students at its institutions to wear the Jalur Gemilang badge on their uniforms starting April 21, with the implementation taking place in phases.

To support the initiative, each student will receive two badges free of charge for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a statement today, the MOE said the move aims to instil patriotism and a love for the country among students and educators.

“This initiative reflects the role of educational institutions in fostering a sense of national pride and strengthening patriotism among the younger generation,” the statement read.

The Education Ministry provided an illustration of the Jalur Gemilang badges for school uniforms. To support the initiative, each student will receive two badges free of charge for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The policy applies to all government and government-aided schools, as well as matriculation colleges and teacher education institutes nationwide.

To ensure proper implementation, the ministry has issued the Guidelines on Wearing the Jalur Gemilang Badge on Student Uniforms along with Circular No. 3/2025, detailing the correct placement of the badge. – March 27, 2025
