KUALA LUMPUR – Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad is confident of retaining his role as Setiawangsa PKR division chief in the upcoming party elections in May.

The natural resources and environmental sustainability minister and PKR vice president said this as he also welcomed all members to contest for the division’s top post, in response to talks of Datuk Afdlin Shauki entering the ring for the position.

“Anyone can win. I am confident that the Setiawangsa PKR members are with me,” he said, as reported by Bernama.

“…as we (PKR) uphold democracy, we welcome all members who wish to contest,” he said when asked about the actor, comedian and film director’s decision to contest against him.

He was speaking to reporters after officiating the opening of Agrobank’s first Green Branch in Bagan Serai today.

However, Nik Nazmi said that the contest should be conducted respectfully and that he does not take any candidate lightly.

Previously, he said that he would be defending both his position as PKR vice-president and Setiawangsa division chief in the party polls scheduled for May 24. – April 10, 2025
