KUALA LUMPUR — Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang was re-elected as Tanjong Malim PKR division chief in the party’s 2025 divisional elections yesterday.

According to the results displayed on the 2025 PKR Elections website https://pemilihan.keadilanrakyat.org today, Chang retained the post unopposed.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun also successfully defended the Port Dickson division chief’s post for a second term.

Aminuddin, a PKR vice-president, obtained 2,147 votes to beat his challenger, former Negeri Sembilan PKR deputy chairman Datuk M. Ravi, who got 1,098 votes.

In PERAK, the Finance Minister’s political secretary Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim was elected as the Padang Rengas division chief.

Muhammad Kamil, who is national PKR Youth deputy chief and the division Youth chief, polled 532 votes to beat Lukman Yahaya, who obtained only 85 votes. Zaini Hasan retained his position as division deputy chief.

Commenting on his victory, Muhammad Kamil said it should not be a cause for pride, but rather a mandate to be used responsibly to ensure the leadership and members at the division level become more competitive in various aspects.

He will also focus on preparing the party machinery at the division level to ensure the Unity Government remains in power in Putrajaya after the 16th General Election (GE16), he added.

“This is no easy task and preparations for GE16 must be prioritised, as it serves as a benchmark for us to uphold the legacy of the Unity Government,” he told Bernama today.

Perak PKR chairman Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri also won the Kuala Kangsar division chief’s post unopposed.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN,  former president of Malaysian Youth Council Jufitri Joha was elected the Rembau division chief, polling 661 votes to beat Mohd Hafiz Mohamad, who obtained 508 votes.

In SARAWAK, Miri MP Chiew Choon Man was elected unopposed as the Miri division chief, while state PKR chief Roland Engan also retained his Baram division chief’s post unopposed.

PKR has 31 divisions in Sarawak, but only 30 were involved in the election thus far after the voting process in the Julau division was postponed.

Sarawak PKR secretary Mahmud Epah told Bernama that he has yet to receive full information regarding the postponement of the Julau divisonal election.

The PKR divisional elections will run from April 11 to 20 while the central leadership polls, including for the Youth and Wanita wings, will be held on May 24. – April 14, 2025
