KUALA LUMPUR – Flash floods hit several areas in Selangor following heavy rainfall this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s assistant director of operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, confirmed that Sg Buloh, Petaling Jaya, and Subang Jaya were among the affected areas, as reported by Bernama.
He said 86 homes were affected, but no evacuations have been reported.
The New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) near Shah Alam Toll Plaza was also flooded, reportedly causing delays on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) and routes from Bukit Jelutong Toll Plaza and Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari this morning.
In Kg Paya Jaras Hilir, Sg Buloh, 80 homes were submerged with water levels reaching three feet, though the water has started to recede. In Kg Baru Sg Buloh, six homes were inundated with two feet of water, but residents declined evacuation as water levels were dropping.
Ahmad Mukhlis reported a car stranded in two feet of water on Persiaran Damai, Kg Kenangan, Subang Jaya, though no casualties were reported and water levels have since receded.
He added that a woman in her 50s was rescued by the public after floodwaters rose to five feet along Jalan PJU 1A/46 in Petaling Jaya. – April 23, 2025
