PN to announce candidates for state polls tomorrow, Thursday

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu says the list is being vetted by multiple committees in the coalition

11:00 AM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) will be announcing its candidates for the six state elections in stages starting tomorrow.

Speaking to Scoop, PN deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the candidates for three states, including Negri Sembilan, will be revealed tomorrow, while the rest will be announced on Thursday.

He added that the delay in announcing the candidates is not a strategic move, but rather to ensure only effective candidates are selected.

“This may look like a strategy but it’s not. Despite the unity government parties announcing their candidates earlier, we are not changing our list,” said Faizal, who is popularly known as Peja.

He added that the candidates have undergone a thorough vetting process by multiple committees in PN.

“We are not going to send just anyone to contest. We were strict with the list of candidates. This election is important and we only want people who can work,” said Faizal, who is also Negri Sembilan PN election director for PN Negri Sembilan.

Earlier, he confirmed that he will not be participating in this state election. – July 25, 2023
