Slight shift in support among the Chinese and significant backing from Indian voters, he says

KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) is set to assist Chinese communities by providing more business opportunities and economic recovery plans, said Bersatu leader Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Ahead of the state elections, he said the coalition has been seeing growing support from the Chinese communities.

He added the coalition is confident of securing between 33 and 35 state seats in Selangor for the state polls on August 12.

This, Azmin said, pushes PN to work hard in formulating policies that “transcends race and religion”, as well as its plans to manage and develop Selangor.

“The Chinese (community) are concerned with political stability, and also opportunities to do business.

“We are providing those solutions for them to accelerate the economic recovery and to advance their opportunities in this area,” Azmin said during breakfast with editors at the Concorde Hotel here today.

The Concorde Club is a gathering of editors and senior journalists, who meet with politicians and policymakers to discuss current events and relevant issues.

Azmin, who is PN information chief, also said the coalition has been receiving significant support from Indian voters in Selangor.

Similarly, he said the coalition will provide better economic development and access to education for the Indian community so they can be a part of the state’s development.

Reiterating that PN’s policies represent and benefit all Malaysians, Azmin advised voters against fearing the “green wave” as it is a scare tactic by certain groups.

He also refuted claims that PN’s policies only benefited the Malays, as wage subsidies and stimulus packages implemented under the PN federal government during the pandemic were the small and medium business owners, who were mostly Chinese. – July 25, 2023
