KUALA LUMPUR – PAS’ Bachok MP Syahir Che Sulaiman has accepted a challenge from PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli to have an open debate on economic affairs on August 9.

In his Twitter post today, Rafizi announced that he had been informed that Syahir had accepted his invitation for a debate.

Rafizi, who is economy minister, added that Syahir had received approval from his party leader in PAS to participate in the debate, which will be hosted by Astro Awani.

“I thank you,” he added, thanking Syahir for accepting the invitation to debate.

Rafizi said the debate platform would provide an opportunity for both parties to present their ideas and offerings to the public.

He added that more information about the debate would be announced soon, with August 9 set as the current date for the event.

Rafizi has been calling out PN leaders to engage in debates with him to discuss economic matters.

Previously, he was turned down by Kedah caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Selangor PN chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“Sanusi is scared, Azmin is scared, let’s see if PN’s ‘wisest’ MP (Syahir) dares to accept my challenge,” he said during a PH-BN talk in Gombak, Sunday evening.

Rafizi had proposed to discuss the economic development direction of the nation planned and executed by the unity government.

He is confident that PN leaders would not be able to criticise his plan in detail. – August 1, 2023
