Place MACC under purview of Parliament immediately – Rasuah Busters

Rasuah Busters and its coalition reiterate the call for an institutional reforms promptly, that SPRM be placed under the purview of Parliament

8:55 AM MYT

RASUAH BUSTERS and its coalitions strongly condemn any manipulative and bribery related conduct by any political parties during the current state election campaign. Not only such actions violate election regulations, but they also undermine the democratic principles upheld by our nation.

Political leaders must take responsibility to adhere with campaigning rules.  Thorough and transparent investigations should be conducted on any parties found to have violated provisions outlined in the Election Offences Act 1954 or any other written law in Malaysia.

The evolving political dynamics of the country demonstrate the need for Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to be independent and free to exercise its function without any interference by the executive body. Therefore, Rasuah Busters and its coalition reiterate the call for an institutional reforms promptly, that SPRM be placed under the purview of Parliament.

Political parties and candidates are urged to engage in healthy competition, prioritizing the resolution of long-term socio-economic issues currently faced by the rakyat, instead of making promises and claims that undermine the credibility of their leadership and place party victories above all else.

Voters are called and expected to fulfill their duty by participating in the electoral process and making their choices fairly, critically, and vigilantly to determine the future of the states in the upcoming state election on August 12.
