AS the rain pours down in Kuala Lumpur, a woman strides along the wet streets where the rhythm of her steps matches the patter of raindrops hitting the pavement, shielded from the elements by her trusty umbrella.

In the wake of relentless heatwaves that have gripped the region since last February, the arrival of the monsoon season brings a welcome reprieve to several states.

The transition from scorching temperatures to soothing downpours marks a significant shift in the climate dynamics of the region.

With the monsoon officially commencing on March 29 and expected to extend its embrace until May, communities across the affected areas prepare for the transformative effects of this seasonal shift. – April 5, 2024
