KUALA LUMPUR – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has deferred the cause and manner of death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry.

Authorities said they are awaiting toxicology results and further investigation with law enforcement, which could take weeks to complete, reported TMZ.

According to the medical examiner’s office, Perry’s body is ready to be released to his family.

The tabloid news site reported that no foul play was suspected in his death, and authorities did not find any illegal drugs at his residence where he died.

Yesterday, it was reported that Perry died at the age of 54 in an apparent drowning.

Law enforcement sources had said the actor was found drowned in a hot tub.

Perry had a long career in television and movies, but he will always be remembered for the role of the often sarcastic Chandler Bing on the hit 1990s sitcom Friends, which ran for 10 seasons, with him in all 234 episodes.

Behind the scenes, Perry dealt with addiction to drugs and alcohol, going in and out of rehab over the years.

While appearing sober a year ago, fans were concerned with how he looked and behaved during the recent Friends reunion show – at times slurring his words. – October 30, 2023
