SHINee’s Taemin, Onew to end exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment

K-pop group expected to keep working with agency for group activities

6:31 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Two members – Taemin and Onew – of Kpop group SHINee will end their exclusive contracts with long-time agency SM Entertainment.

Taemin has announced that he will be ending his contract by the end of this month, meanwhile, Onew will conclude his contract in the first half of the year.

Despite this departure, it is expected that SHINee will maintain its collaboration with SM Entertainment for group activities.

Taemin, 30, who debuted as a SHINee member in 2008, has spent 16 years under SM Entertainment’s management, renewing his contract multiple times over the years.

As part of the group known for its chart-topping hits such as Replay, Ring Ding Dong, and Lucifer, Taemin has left an indelible mark on the K-pop scene since his debut. Transitioning into a successful solo career in 2014, he continued to captivate audiences with songs like Move, Want, and Guilty.

In 2018, Onew ventured into solo artistry with his inaugural album Voice. Despite his solo pursuits, he has remained committed to SHINee, balancing his schedule between solo activities and group commitments.

Last year, he held his first solo concert, strengthening his bond with fans.

As Taemin and Onew bid farewell to SM Entertainment, fans eagerly anticipate their future endeavours and the new artistic directions they will explore. – March 5, 2024

Only 0.4 million of the 8 million hectares is used for production of vegetables, fruits, freshwater fish and dairy products.
