ALOR SETAR — Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC coach Mohd Nafuzi Mohd Zain is satisfied with his team’s performance in their match against Super League leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) last night, which ended 3-3 at Stadium Darul Aman here.

He said the result delayed the expected crowning of JDT as the Super League champions for this season.

Mohd Nafuzi said his players displayed the kind of consistency and confidence he wanted and hoped they would maintain the momentum for the coming matches.

“Even one point is valuable for us to stay among the league leaders. I think my players showed their true capability tonight.

“Overall, they played with a high level of confidence. It was beautiful to watch in terms of their buildup, attack and defence throughout the 90 minutes,” he told reporters after the match.

“During the interval, I told the players to keep pushing. Tonight, our defence was solid, the midfield and other departments all functioned well,” he added.

Meanwhile, JDT head coach Esteban Solari said Kedah played a good game and his team failed to capitalise on the many scoring chances created.

“It was a tough match… we created many opportunities but failed to convert. We will step up our performances for the coming matches,” he said.

JDT are at the top of the table with 61 points from 21 matches, Selangor are second with 49 points from 22 matches and KDA are third with 44 points from 21 matches. — August 27, 2023
