Datuk Chong Kim Fatt updates Ambassador Ouyang Yujing on Malaysian contingent’s readiness for 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou

KUALA LUMPUR — The Olympic Council of Malaysia’s (OCM) vice president Datuk Chong Kim Fatt today paid a courtesy call to the People’s Republic of China’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing at the Chinese Embassy, here.

During the courtesy call, Kim Fatt, who also serves as the Chef de Mission (CDM) to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou, took the opportunity to update Ouyang Yujing on the movements and the preparations of the Malaysian contingent for the Games.

“On behalf of our president, Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, we thanked Ouyang Yujing for his unwavering support towards the Olympic Movement in Malaysia.

“The 19th Asian Games will be the third Asian Games hosted by China, following the successful 11th Asian Games in Beijing 1990 and the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou 2010,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Ouyang Yujing was quoted in the statement as saying his country hails the Malaysian contingent’s participation in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.

“Sports is an integral component of cultural exchange, contributing to the enhancement of diplomatic relationships between nations.

“I always emphasise the strong relationship between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei, which showcases the cooperation and friendship between China and Malaysia.

“On behalf of the government of China, we will extend any form of assistance to ensure the successful participation of the Malaysian contingent in the Hangzhou Asian Games,” he said. — September 1, 2023
