LTdL Stage 3: chill Aiman wins white jersey, to his surprise

National cyclist places sixth, taking Best Asian Rider title from Tegshbayar Batsaikhan

5:58 PM MYT

BALING – Muhammad Nur Aiman Rosli’s strategy for today’s Stage 3 of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) was fruitful despite the climb-heavy route.

On a tough course from Jeli to Baling, with lots of big hills to climb, the Malaysian national team rider decided to conserve his energy by staying within the peloton.

The strategy worked wonders as he ended up as the best Malaysian finisher in sixth place and took over possession of the white jersey for Best Asian Rider from Tegshbayar Batsaikhan of Roojai Online Insurance.

The stage featured four climbs, ranging from Category 3 to Category 1.

“There are plenty of hills and climbs in today’s stage so I just wanted to survive in the peloton.

“I didn’t really target anything for this stage, but only ride to survive and wanted to conserve my energy for the sprint finish.

“I did this not only for myself but for my fellow Malaysian and teammates too,” said the 24-year-old.

To his astonishment, Aiman only realised he had won the white jersey when his coach informed him.

The national team coach, Mohd Yusuf Abdul Nasir, said he is grateful for Aiman’s achievement today.

“We had three riders in the first group but unfortunately we ran into some problems with our rider’s bikes.

“Truthfully we initially wanted to fight for the Best Asian Team classification, but I’m still grateful for Aiman’s white jersey,” said Yusuf. — September 25, 2023
