KUALA LUMPUR – “It wasn’t a tough match” for Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, to defeat Supak Jomkoh-Kittinupong Kedren from Thailand.

The world’s number six pair cruised to the quarter-finals of the individual event at the Hangzhou Asian Games after spending 30 minutes to defeat the world number 29 pair in straight games, 21-12, 21-14.

“It was not really a tough match for us today but we will take this win and invest more time on our recovery for tomorrow’s match.

“I won’t say that our game was perfect today but I believe that our performance is on the mark in the tournament,” Aaron said in a post-match interview.

“We have a good rhythm in this tournament and we are focusing on enjoying each game rather than focusing on winning and that’s the mindset that we have developed for this tournament,” Wooi Yik added.

The former world champions will be facing China’s Liu Yuchen-Ou Xuanyi at the Binjiang Gymnasium tomorrow.

Meanwhile, independent shuttler Goh Jin Wei fell to Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the women’s singles.

The world number 33 lost 6-21, 12-21 to the world number seven Indonesian in a match which lasted for 27 minutes. – October 4, 2023
