FAM president, gen-sec attend AFC conference 

Gathering to last for two days beginning today

KUALA LUMPUR – In order to strengthen the bilateral relations of the affiliated countries in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) sent a delegate to attend the AFC Member and Regional Associations, Presidents’ and General Secretaries’ Conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The delegation is led by FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin and accompanied by general-secretary Datuk Noor Azman Rahman.

The conference is organised by the AFC for two days beginning today and is attended by 47 member associations.

“The football industry is considered the best platform to strengthen relations between countries, especially when it takes into account the fact that football is a unifying agent and the number one sport in most countries,” said Hamidin.

“This conference witnessed the presidents and general secretaries of the AFC member associations gather where we can both strengthen our close collaborations in efforts to develop the sport in the region.”

AFC general-secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John inaugurated the conference together with Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino was also present to express his support.

A variety of topics will be discussed at the conference, including leadership in football, the power of football as a catalyst for national transformation, shaping the future of leadership, and success in women’s football leadership. – October 7, 2023
