MAF inks deal with Cahya Mata Sarawak worth RM5 mil

The partnership between MAF and the industrial conglomerate will begin this year and end in 2025

KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) today announced a three-year strategic partnership deal with Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) worth RM5 million for the development of athletics programs and grassroots initiatives.

The partnership between MAF and the industrial conglomerate will begin this year and end in 2025.

MAF President Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the partnership will be vital for MAF to achieve its goals and objectives in terms of athlete development.

“It is an honor for us to have Cahya Mata Sarawak step in as our sponsors. We hope that with this financial support, athletics in Malaysia will see more success.

“The commitment and effort of Cahya Mata Sarawak is an excellent example for others who are aligned to help promote Malaysian sports. We appreciate and hope to maintain this partnership in order to foster the next generation of champions,” he said.

Meanwhile, CMS Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin added that this partnership reflects the company’s belief to untap the potential of the athletes.

“Our commitment is to ensure the continuous growth and harnessing of their potential, propelling them onto the international stage and amplifying Malaysia’s achievements in athletics.”

“I was made to understand that MAF also has a program to identify young talents. I think it is important to create the next generation of champions.

“With hope and our contribution, MAF is able to implement its vision and nurture athletes at the state level.

“Especially in Sarawak, because many athletes from there have brought glory to our country in athletics, and we want that to continue,” he said. — October 25, 2023
